Olbermann: Rove ‘rewriting history’ by denying rush to war
While on Charlie Rose last week, Karl Rove hinted at an “untold story” where he explained that the Bush Administration did not want to rush to war with Iraq. Rove’s says that the Democratic Congress of 2002 forced the vote for war authorization before the White House was ready.
Keith Olbermann said that a quick review of history shows that Rove’s new claims are false. Olbermann checked his facts and then asked Arianna Huffington if there was any way Rove’s new claims could be true. Huffington replied, “I’m sorry, keith. I don’t think there is any possibility that what Karl Rove is saying has any connection to the truth. There is just too much evidence. We have the downing street memo that shows that they are already fixing the intel. They were determined to use 9/11 to use the president’s incredible popularity at the time, to use the spinelessness of the Democrats to take us to war as fast as possible. It doesn’t matter what Karl Rove says. The truth is the truth. It exists. It’s real. And he can’t change it.”
This morning, hosts on MSNBC’s Morning Joe found Karl Rove’s rewritten history equally unbelievable.
