GOP official: Hispanics ‘above’ blacks
KOAT reported that the head of the Republican Party in New Mexico has called for a GOP official to resign after he made remarks casting Hispanics as racists. Chairman of Bernalillo County Republicans, Fernando de Baca, made statement to the BBC that caused controversy.
“He offered another, blunter, reason why he believed John McCain would do well in New Mexico.”
“‘The truth is that Hispanics came here as conquerors,’ he said. ‘African-Americans came here as slaves.'”
“‘Hispanics consider themselves above blacks. They won’t vote for a black president.'”
