First on-camera interview with Libyan rape victim
CNN’s Nic Robertson conducted the first on-camera interview with a Libyan woman who says she was gang raped by Gaddafi supporters. Eman al-Obeidy told Robertson that she was raped and beaten for two days.
“There are a lot of bruises on my body as a result of the torture,” she said.
Broadcast of the interview was delayed for 18 hours because Muammar Gaddafi’s son, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, insisted on reviewing it. As a result, a portion of the interview where Obeidy said she supported the Libyan rebels was removed from the broadcast.
This is the first time journalists have seen her since March 26.
