British public workers Thursday marked a day of protest as over 750,000 went on strike in opposition to austerity measures that would raise the retirement age, increase pension contributions and cut retirement payouts.

Reports noted that over 300 schools were shut down by the strike, along with passport offices along the nation’s border and some sea ports.
