Rep. Anthony Weiner on Rachel Maddow Show: I don’t know if lewd photo is of me
New York Congressman Anthony Weiner appeared on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show Wednesday night where he answered questions about the fiasco that has come to be known as “Weinergate.”
The Twitter account of the Rep. Weiner allegedly sent a racy photo to a female college student from Seattle. He claimed that while the photo did appear on his Twitter feed, he did not send it.
When asked if the photo was of him, Weiner joked that he wished the photo was him.
“We don’t know for sure. The photograph doesn’t look familiar to me, but a lot of people who have been looking at this stuff on my behalf are cautioning me that stuff gets manipulated… I can’t say for sure.”
He added that the photograph may have been taken out of context.
“I’m kind of concerned how wide and far this conspiracy theory has run,” Weiner said. “I’ve got people who’ve done nothing more than follow me on Twitter who are getting calls from reporters.”
