Colbert ‘hacks’ Murdoch’s voicemails to lawyer
On Thursday night’s Colbert Report, Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert ran a segment in which he “hacked” media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s voicemails to his attorney, mining comedy gold off the recent scandals that have rocked Murdoch’s News Corporation to its core.
“Goddamnit, I had to close the paper,” the faux Murdoch said. “I’m angrier than a bloomin’ onion! And when I’m angry, I wanna buy stuff! See if Colorado is available. Call me! Bye.”
Colbert closed the segment saying that “it’s too bad” such misfortune has befallen Murdoch’s British newspapers, then displayed a long list of his other media properties, which rapidly scrolled across the screen for almost half a minute.
