Arnold Schwarzenegger to publish memoir titled ‘Total Recall’
Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has garnered fame both as the former Republican governor of California and as an Austrian-born bodybuilding champion-turned-action movie star, announced that he will write a memoir for publication in October 2012.
The book, according to Entertainment Weekly, will be titled “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.”
Schwarzenegger also starred in a 1990 action film called “Total Recall.” In the film, Schwarzengger plays Douglas Quaid, a construction worker-turned-freedom fighter who attempts to stop a conspiracy on Mars. (Or maybe not: the film toys with the idea that Quaid’s actions are part of a memory implant “vacation” company called “Rekall.”)
A source told People that the book “will not be a tell-all.”
The book, co-written by former “Fortune” executive editor Peter Petre, will address Schwarzenegger’s career in politics and his recent split with wife Maria Shriver, as well as his youth in Austria and career in entertainment.
Publisher Jonathan Karp, with Simon & Schuster, said that his company was excited to work with Schwarzenegger.
“Truly, Arnold is one of the most fascinating figures of our time, and one of the greatest success stories in the world,” he said. “Nobody has a life story even close to his.”
