GoDaddy drops support of SOPA
Add the folks at GoDaddy.com now to the list against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
The Internet domain registry giant announced Friday in a statement from CEO Warren Adelman that it would no longer support the controversial bill.
“Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation – but we can clearly do better,” Warren wrote. “It’s very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this. Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it.”
GoDaddy’s move came after threats by some, including Fail Blog creator and Cheezburger CEO Ben Huh, to take their domains away from the registrar if it continued supporting SOPA.
