Ron Paul denies secret alliance with Romney campaign
During an appearance on CNN on Tuesday, Texas Rep. Ron Paul denied teaming up with Mitt Romney to take down Rick Santorum.
“If that’s all he has to talk about, that means he doesn’t have much of a platform to talk about. I would think we’re supposed to be talking about the issue,” Paul said. “But to construct something like that, I mean, he just pulled that out of the air because there’s no truth to it.”
Santorum has accused Paul of having a backroom, running-mate deal with Romney to see his son Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on the 2012 ticket.
“Some people are much more into conspiracies than others,” Paul said. “If Santorum is an addict on conspiracies, I guess he’s going to have to keep talking that way.”
According to an analysis by Think Progress, Paul has never attacked Romney during the 20 televised debates.
However, last year Paul did run a TV ad attacking Mitt Romney and other Republican nominees.
