Man flies like a bird with home-made cyborg wings

A Dutch engineer was able to fly like a bird thanks to robotically-assisted wings made using Wii controllers and other parts, according to Wired.
“At one moment you see the ground moving away, and then suddenly you’re free, a really intense feeling of freedom,” 31-year-old Jarno Smeets said. “The true feeling of flying. A fucking magical moment. The best feeling I have felt in my life.”
His own muscle power could never provide the amount of strength needed to move the wings at the proper speed. Instead, Turnigy motors power the wings based on the movement of his arms.
The 37-ounce wings were built from a kite and carbon windsurf masts.
