Colbert: ‘It’s up to the gays to keep us from discriminating’
In Stephen Colbert’s mind, the person that would be the best choice to be Mitt Romney’s running mate is Rep. Steve King (R-IA), especially for his anti-gay stance.
Colbert shared his support Tuesday evening for the ultra conservative congressman being the ideal VP choice for the likely GOP presidential nominee, praising King for mentioning a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” like policy to prevent small business owners for being sued for discriminating against gay employees.
“Here that ‘the gays,’ it’s up to you to keep us from discriminating,” Colbert said. “Because once we know you’re gay, I have a natural desire to fire you. That’s why I insist no one at The Report tell me their sexual orientation.”
