Nikki Haley Thinks Women Don’t Care About Contraception. ORLY.
You gotta love it when the GOP shines up its vaginally-enhanced Republicans and pushes them on stage to make their stupid arguments about women’s health for them. A few weeks ago, they pushed Cathy McMorris-Rodgers on stage and she made a right ass of herself by claiming that Democrats are scaring women with all this “war on women” talk. Yesterday, it was Nikki Haley’s turn:
“All of my policy is not based on a label,” Haley remarked. “It’s based on what I’ve lived and what I know: Women don’t care about contraception. They care about jobs and the economy and raising their families and all of those things.”
“We care about contraception too,” co-host Joy Behar interrupted.
“But that’s not the only thing they care about,” Haley replied, slightly revising her earlier assertion. “The media wants to talk about contraception. … While we care about contraception, let’s be clear. All we’re saying is we don’t want government to mandate when we have to have it and when we don’t. We want to be able to make that decision.”
Nikki. Honey. The government is not forcing you to take birth control. The government is simply permitting women who take birth control to have it covered by their insurance. Now, that’s not so unreasonable, is it? No. Of course not.
As a general rule, it’s a good idea to actually understand your talking points before you open your mouth. When you talk out loud, people can hear you, you know.
