Florida white supremacists trained for ‘race war’ near Disney World
A group of 10 white supremacists allegedly trained for a “race war” near Disney World in Orlando before being arrested by authorities this week, according to published reports.
The arrests came after a confidential informant told authorities that the American Front, a skinhead group, was planning “to kill Jews, immigrants and other minorities,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Associated Press.
The group’s training facilities were just 11 miles from Disney World, the document added.
The American Front was reportedly modeled after Britain’s white supremacist group National Front, AP noted, but it faded from significance in the ’90s after a string of violent episodes that culminated with the murder of skinhead leader David Lynch in 2011.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups in the U.S., said that American Front has chapters operating in Florida, California and New Jersey.
The Florida group’s arrested leader, 39-year-old Marcus Faella, was allegedly researching how to develop the toxic biological weapon ricin before being taken into police custody.
