Maddow: Ron Paul supporters infiltrating Republican state leadership
Rachel Maddow discussed Rep. Ron Paul’s (R-TX) continued push to win delegates in the Republican presidential race Tuesday evening, despite that Mitt Romney has the nomination locked up.
Paul’s supporters showed up at Republican primary contests in Louisiana, Massachusetts last weekend, allowing him to pick up more delegates. The congressmen’s backers also took over the Alaska Republican convention, with one Paul supporter winning the state party’s chairmanship over the candidate backed by the state party establishment.
Mentioning Paul’s continued support throughout the country, Maddow felt his presence maybe “have a practical effect on the Republican Party” at their convention this year.
“Ron Paul’s strategy hasn’t been to covert non-believers or to swing Romney delegates over his side,” she said. “The Ron Paul strategy has been to get his own supporters inside, to get them inside the process.”
