Colorado mom takes toddler out of baby seat and straps in gas can
A police officer in Aurora, Colorado was shocked last week to find a toddler sitting unbuckled in the back of his mother’s car — and a gas can strapped in to the safety seat where the child should have been.
On Monday, the Colorado Department of Transportation posted a photo on Facebook of the unrestrained, diapered boy that was taken during a May 30 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement action.
“This could be one of the extreme incidents we’ve ever seen,” Aurora Police spokesman Frank Fania told the Denver Post.
The woman, who’s name has not been released, was ticketed for no proof of insurance and for three seatbelt violations, which included a 14-year-old passenger.
The photo was immediately met with condemnation on Facebook.
“OMG…. OMG… I have an almost 3 yr old… this is awfule.. ignorant people should NOT be allowed to have children… EVER,” John Petrocci wrote.
“This is ridiculous,” Ray Phillips agreed. “Having the child poorly restrained is one thing, but think about the gas fumes!
“High price of gas… will make you do crazy things,” Alex Goojvin joked.
