Maddow coins new word for Sen. Scott Brown: ‘Fumblebrag’

On her show Thursday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow unveiled a new word she created for Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts.

“Now for your consideration, fumblebrag, which we require specifically to understand the latest otherwise inexplicable strangeness from Scott Brown,” she said.

The word combines a brag and a fumble. Maddow provided a recent example, where Brown claimed he regularly met with “kings and queens.”

“It’s a brag: ‘I’m very important. I meet with royolty, kings, queens, prime ministers, even secretly.’ But it is also a fumble, because what in god save the queen’s name are you talking about?” she explained.

Brown’s spokesman later clarified that the senator misspoke about meeting with “kings and queens.” The spokesman said Brown was talking about meeting privately with foreign leaders.

As another example, Maddow explained that Brown had bragged that because he was “a United States freaking senator” he was able to see a picture of Osama bin Laden’s corpse. But it turned out he had only seen a picture on the Internet, which was fake.
