Mexican boy recovering after doctors remove 33-pound tumor
A little boy in Mexico is expected to make a full recovery after doctors removed a tumor earlier this month that weighed more than their patient.
Clocking in at 33 pounds, the tumor was so large that it was cutting off 2-year-old Jesus Gabriel’s oxygen supply. But after 10 hours of surgery on June 14, doctors in Mexico City called the procedure a success.
Gabriel’s case marks the first time doctors in Mexico had ever removed a growth that was larger than the person carrying it.
