Jennifer Garner channels Bachmann by battling heathen stripper in ‘Butter’ movie
Jennifer Garner channels former Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann in a movie where an aspiring butter sculptor looks to defeat a young African-American girl who is being helped by a stripper.
In the movie Butter, Garner plays Laura Pickler, an Iowa woman who “eyes what she sees as long-deserved glory, but suddenly, a young and wildly talented black upstart from a white family is in her way. Making it even harder is the emergence of a younger woman (Olivia Wilde) she sees as a heathen, who wants to help the black challenger with an upset victory,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
During the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, Producer Harvey Weinstein jokingly invited Bachmann and members of the tea party to a screening of the film.
“I would like to take this moment to formally invite Republican Congresswoman from Minnesota and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann to co-host with me the big premiere of Butter in Iowa in a few months from now,” Weinstein said in a statement read by actress Olivia Wilde, who plays a stripper in the movie.
“I know Michele will already be in Iowa for the caucus, so we can save some money on airfare and travel. I would, of course, be more than happy to fly in the other leading members of the Tea Party movement to make an entire day of it.”
Weinstein continued: “We could take some math classes in the morning to help balance the budget, brush up on the Constitution in the afternoon, play some ping-pong, and then maybe some verbal ping-pong on gay rights and women’s rights (especially the right to choose). But at night we can all go hand-in-hand to the premiere of Butter, a fun and important film where we’ll share some popcorn and laughs. These are the kind of bipartisan effort that makes America great. I look forward to hearing from Michele, and I’m particularly looking forward to those classes on the Constitution.”
Ty Burrell, Hugh Jackman and Alicia Silverstone also star in the film, which is set to be released in October.
