Parody video: Pharmaceutical ad for ‘legitimate rape’ contraceptive
“Are you woman who sometimes finds it difficult to afford expensive birth control? If so, you’re probably suffering from Sexually Liberated Uterine Tendencies (SLUT), a serious medical condition,” a woman in the mock ad says. “Fortunately, now there is a treatment that can help. It’s called legitimate rape.”
The ad warns that a side-effect of legitimate rape is facing “accusations that you’re just hysterical.” It also warns that legitimate rape “isn’t for everyone,” and advises women to consult with their Congressmen.
The ad notes that Republicans voted last year to limit federal assistance only to victims of “forcible rape.” As a disclaimer in the ad explains, “that means if you’re just a 13-year-old who gets molested by your gym teacher… your rape is not legitimate.”
“Legitimate rape, it’s like regular birth control, except it is imagined by crazy people,” the ad concludes.
