Police: Delaware daycare workers forced kids to fight
Delaware police arrested three Dover daycare workers after they were found to have forced kids in their care to fight each other while one worker recorded it on her cell phone.
KYW-TV reported Monday night that three employees at the Hands of Our Future daycare center – Tiana Harris, 19, Estefania Myers, 21 and Lisa Parker, 47 – were arrested and charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering and conspiracy after the March incident was revealed.
“Clearly one of the children is crying and does not want to continue on,” Dover Police Captain Tim Stump told the station. “And he is pushed back into the fray by one of the adults.”
Authorities have said they will not release the video, but did mention that the footage shows one child crying and saying, “He’s pinching me,” to which one of the workers answers, “No pinching, only punching.”
The Delaware News Journal reported that a local officer saw the cell phone video over the weekend and tipped detectives off, leading to the arrests. Police also met with about 75 parents who had kids at the center Monday night, along with civil services personnel, but did not show them the video, either.
