Pop star Will.i.am was writing a song to endorse Barack Obama at the conventions four years ago, but this election cycle he’s decided to back a nerdier candidate: NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover.

Will.i.am released a new single called “Reach For The Stars,” which NASA plans to broadcast from the rover Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Eastern time, which can be viewed via NASA’s livestream. Will.i.am himself will be at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California tomorrow afternoon to witness his first Martian performance from NASA’s command center.

Listen to the song, uploaded to YouTube on Aug. 26.
