Camel busts loose before California circus performance
A Mexican circus’ visit to Glendale, California took an unusual turn when one of the show’s camels decided to “work out” on her own Friday.
According to KCAL-TV, Atula, a 4-year-old camel traveling with the Ramos Brothers Circus, got away from a trainer she “wasn’t too thrilled with” while being taken out for her morning exercise and took off down Glendale Boulevard, bringing nearby traffic to a standstill.
“I see like, 10 people run after this camel,” said photographer Diana Madison, who captured footage of Atula’s dash. “All cars stopped, there’s complete chaos on Glendale Avenue. I don’t think that street has seen so much action.”
Atula got as far as a nearby gas station before her handlers caught up to her and returned her to her enclosure unharmed, and the show, as they say, went on.
