Maddow previews opportunities of Obama’s second term
On her show Monday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow speculated on some of the likely courses of action for Democrats now that President Barack Obama has been re-elected.
The liberal MSNBC host noted that Obama would almost certainly fight to prevent the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans from being renewed, having pledged numerous times to oppose them.
Maddow also Obama could push for labor union reforms as well, helping to strengthen a key Democratic ally. Democrats in Congress have also proposed federal election reform. In addition, even Republicans have recently been expressing their desire to reform the immigration system.
New environmental policy to avert climate change and shutting down the Guantanamo Bay prison facility were also “in the realm of possibility” in Obama’s second term, according to Maddow.
