Pat Robertson claims his million-dollar prayer worked for a ‘businessman’
Television evangelist and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Robertson said Monday that his recent holy vision of some needy person being given $1,000,000 by God has come true, claiming his divine insight was actually about oil giant BP paying “a businessman” he spoke to recently.
“The Lord gave me the other day a word of knowledge that somebody was getting a million dollars,” Robertson said. “Remember? I talked to a businessman a couple days ago and he said, ‘You know, you have that word?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘I’m just getting a check for $1.1 million from BP unexpectedly.’ They just, his income went down at a particular point of time in the Gulf and they were paying off anybody who had a dip in income.”
“God owns it all,” his co-host affirmed.
“Just gave him a check!” Robertson declared.
“God is going to supply a million dollars, somebody is praying right now, right this second,” he predicted on Feb. 28. “You’re praying for a million dollars and God said, ‘I have heard your prayer, I know your need, and I’m going to supply the need that you requested.’ It’s done, in Jesus’s name.”
It must certainly be divine inspiration for Robertson’s predictions to now become self-fulfilling after so many of his other attempts at divination fell short, like when he announced in 2008: “We have between 75 and 120 days before the Middle East starts spinning out of control” in a nuclear war.
His other most recent word of knowledge from the Lord was supposedly about the 2012 presidential election, but that one supposedly turned out to be wrong. After teasing viewers by implying he potentially has knowledge of the divine’s preference for Republicans, Robertson was forced to explain after the election that, even though “I thought I had heard clearly from God,” it didn’t turn out like he thought.
