Watch: Chinese rescuers free abandoned baby from sewer pipe
Chinese first responders pulled an abandoned baby out of a sewer pipe on Saturday, according to dramatic footage published by the state-run Zhejiang News website.
Firefighters received a call from one of the building’s tenants about a crying baby and were surprised to discover the crying was coming from the L-joint of a pipe on the wall. It took two hours to free the child, The Associated Press noted.
Police are searching for the baby’s parents, who are now wanted for attempted murder. The building’s owner told authorities that the child was likely born in the washroom just one floor above.
