Alex Jones acolyte and car dealer brother land History show
Beginning in July, the A+E Network’s History channel will run a new series called “God, Guns & Automobiles” that features Alex Jones acolyte and shock jock Erich “Mancow” Muller and brother Mark, a car dealer in a small Missouri town.
The dealership, Max Motors, has a reputation for mixing extremist ideologies with automobile sales, including giving away AK-47 assault rifles to new buyers. Combined with Mancow’s typically anti-Obama rhetoric — he’s an ardent supporter of “birther” conspiracy theories and says he believes the administration wants to commit genocide by seizing Americans’ guns — the program promises to be another experiment in letting fringe political figures run their own unscripted television show, not unlike Discovery’s attempt at giving NRA board member Ted Nugent his own program.
“A true American Original, [Mark Muller is] fueled by a larger-than-life personality and turbo-charged attitude,” the network said in a media advisory. “Joined by an oddball staff that work the deals and his wife Amy and sons, Max Motors embodies the values and spirit of the heartland of America.”
In footage collected by liberal watchdog group Media Matters, prospective viewers can get a sense of what sort of “values and spirit of the heartland” this show might present. Mancow’s frequent appearances on “The Alex Jones Show” are particularly telling, featuring him accusing Obama of operating out of “Hitler’s” playbook and copying tyrants like Pol Pot and Mao in orchestrating gun control legislation — even before Obama was pushing for it.
Mancow also insists that the government somehow “scrambles” his broadcasts any time he talks about the discredited theory that the government is building concentration camps around the country under the guise of Federal Emergency Management Agency projects, and that Obama is secretly a “Kenyan-Muslim president” who celebrated after a 2009 shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.
