Texas attorney general ‘thanks’ supporter after ‘Retard Barbie’ jab at Wendy Davis
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) over the weekend thanked a supporter who called state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) “Retard Barbie,” but then later added that he did not “endorse” the language.
“@GregAbbott_TX would absolutely demolish idiot @WendyDavisTexas in Gov race – run Wendy run! Retard Barbie to learn life lesson,” Jeff Rutledge tweeted on Saturday.
“Jeff, thanks for your support,” Abbott replied.

In a statement to Politico, Democratic Governors Association spokesperson Danny Kanner blasted Abbott for “disgusting attacks against Wendy Davis have no place in the political discourse and they say a lot more about the Republican men launching them than her.”
“Clearly, they know that Wendy Davis offers the kind of real change that Texas voters want and are scared to death of her because of it,” Kanner pointed out.
Abbott later addressed the controversy in a Sunday tweet: “FYI: I thank supporters on Twitter, but I don’t endorse anyone’s offensive language. Stay positive.”
