Police: Man barricaded in home after killing worker at Texas school
Police in Katy, Texas said on Friday that a man was barricaded in his Brookshire home after he gunned down a 32-year-old cafeteria worker at a nearby school.
Katy ISD alerted parents Friday morning that the shooting had occurred at Tompkins High School at around 6:11 a.m. before the start of classes.
According to KHOU, witnesses recalled hearing a “pop” and then seeing a man with a shotgun fleeing the scene in a pickup truck.
Two coaches from the school reportedly attempted to perform CPR on the victim until EMS responders arrived on the scene. The woman was later pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.
The Department of Public Safety said that the man had been tracked to a residence on FM 359 near U.S. 90 in the Brookshire area. He was believed to be the victim’s ex-husband.
School officials said that classes were resuming as normal, but parents were notified that they could pick up students if they desired.
