Army private accused of stabbing pregnant woman while she talked to her husband online
A 19-year-old Army private was arrested and charged with capital attempted murder in the stabbing attack of a woman while her husband, a fellow service member, reportedly heard the attack online.
KFOX-TV reported that police at Fort Bliss arrested Corey Bernard Moss and turned him over to El Paso police late Wednesday night, after Moss allegedly ambushed 31-year-old Rachel Poole in her home while she was using the “Face Time” app to chat with her husband, Justin Poole, who is currently deployed overseas.
Moss allegedly went to Rachel Poole’s home to confront her over money she owed him, broke in after finding she was not on the premises and hid while waiting for her to return. Poole, who is nine months pregnant, reportedly identified Moss to her husband in the course of the attack. She was later hospitalized and listed in critical condition with several stab wounds and fractures to her body and face, but her pregnancy was not endangered.
The suspect allegedly phoned a co-worker to take him from Poole’s home and back to Fort Bliss, where he was confronted by other soldiers who had been notified by Justin Poole about the incident and found a knife they identified as the one used on Rachel Poole.
Local police told KFOX that Moss also admitted to attacking her in a written statement. He is being held on a $60,000 bond at the El Paso County Detention Center.
