Jon Stewart rips the GOP: It’s time to cut big-spending Republican ‘warfare queens’ off
Daily Show host Jon Stewart literally scoffed at Republicans on Thursday over their continued willingness to commit U.S. financing toward military situations around the globe while complaining about any spending on domestic programs.
“I’m really worried about the Republicans,” Stewart said. “Their inability to wean themselves off of military intervention. They have a culture of defendency, if you will. And I believe it’s turned them all into warfare queens. And I think we need to cut them off for their own good.”
To illustrate his point, Stewart showed clips of GOP legislators like Roy Blunt, Louie Gohmert and others calling for the country to devote resources toward “creating democracy” in other countries, only to turn around and say “hell no” to bills covering jobs, veterans’ benefits and unemployment benefits in the U.S.
“Basically, when we give other countries’ government assistance, they handle it great,” he observed. “But when we get it ourselves, we f*ck it all up.”
The Republican who best exemplifies that sentiment, Stewart observed, is Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), who had a problem with the country creating “more entitlements” by spending domestically while not seeing any problem with waging war abroad.
“Go f*ck yourself,” Stewart said, hiding the remark behind a mock cough.
