Florida woman accused of killing roommate, hiding her body in a garment bag for days
A Deerfield Beach woman has been taken into custody for allegedly killing her roommate, after police discovered the victim’s body stuffed in a garment bag and hidden in a closet.
Jacqueline Luongo, 44, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of the 68-year-old woman whose identity has not yet been released, reports WPLG.
According to the police, they received a call from a friend of the victim worried about her whereabouts after he was unable to reach her by phone for several days.
The victim had recently been released from jail, after Luongo had her arrested on August 27, claiming to have been attacked and stating that the victim was wanted on a probation violation.
Following the victim’s release from jail on Aug. 28, the friend attempted to contact her to no avail.
Florida sheriff’s deputies, who had been called to check on the woman, discovered her body in the apartment she shared with Luongo, stuffed into a garment bag and hidden in a closet.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s mouth and nose had been taped closed and her head was wrapped in a plastic bag. Authorities state the woman had been dead for several days.
Police arrested Luongo Saturday morning at an apartment in Lakeland and she is currently being held at Broward County jail.
