Texas soldier accused of beating toddler daughter to death over soiled diaper
A Texas soldier is accused of beating his toddler daughter to death with a belt after the child soiled her diaper.
Dartarious Graham was charged with capital murder in the beating death of his 2-year-old daughter, Peyton Graham.
The 20-year-old Graham is a U.S. Army specialist stationed at Fort Bliss and assigned to the 1st Armored Division.
Graham’s cousin, 19-year-old Robert Franklin, witnessed the beating but walked away instead of intervening, police said.
The pair called for help after they noticed the girl had gone limp, but she was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The girl’s mother, 23-year-old Elizabeth Graham, was not home at the time of the beating, but police said she was aware that her husband frequently beat the child.
She and Franklin were charged with injury to a child by omission.
Police said Elizabeth Graham failed to report previous beatings.
Evidence of previous bruising and other injuries were found on the girl’s body.
