Texas ‘breastaurant’ owner fires worker who refused to wear bikini top on CBS reality show
While the CBS reality show Undercover Boss likes to promote itself as “heartwarming,” both the show and its latest subject, a Texas “breastaurant” owner, were roasted by critics after he fired a bartender on camera for choosing to wear a T-shirt instead of a bikini top during Sunday night’s episode.
“It was a big bummer, from my point of view,” Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill owner Doug Guller told the bartender, identified as Jessica, after revealing his identity. He also criticized Jessica for “overserving” one customer to the point that Guller said he worried about the man’s safety.
As Jezebel reported, Guller posed as a new employee and interacted with employees at the restaurant chain’s Austin location, during which time Jessica told him that she did not see her stint there as permanent.
Female employees are required to wear bikini tops with denim shorts and cowboy boots. Guller himself wore a T-shirt and jeans while going “undercover.” Jessica said that she wore a t-shirt while the show was filming for her own comfort. Guller later said he was “pi*sed” at her choice, saying, “That’s not what we do here at Bikinis.”
Jessica reacts to the on-camera firing by saying, “I’m so mad right now.” Guller then offers to help “get her resume out there,” but she rejects his offer and walks away.
“I’m not an idiot,” she says after leaving the conversation with Guller. “Is everyone happy with the job they have right when they have it? No. At the same time, that’s my job, and I still told everyone that I humble myself to do what I got to do. That doesn’t make me a horrible person, just ’cause I’m not satisfied where I’m at.”
During the same episode, Guller offered to pay for breast augmentation surgery for another employee if she agreed to stop using her phone at work for six months.
“Yes, that’s right. The CEO of a company offered one of his employees free huge boob implants if she promises to work harder. (We’re shattering the f*ck out of the glass ceiling in 2014, aren’t we?),” Jezebel’s Rebecca Rose said of the episode. “This happened on national television, on a show that was billed as heartwarming. This also sort of counts as their holiday episode, in case you’re keeping track of the reasons to feel skeeved out and depressed by this.”
Guller, who trademarked the term “breastaurant” last year,” also gave a male kitchen manager a 30 percent raise during the episode, and paid for a $10,000 vacation for the worker and his family.
The Bikinis owner has not issued a comment on the episode since it aired, other than to thank his staff and the program:

But his appearance earned negative reviews from many Twitter users:

#undercoverboss Bikinis has worst boss ever, sexist & cheap CEO. Firing Jessica from deadend job was best for her. Boycott Bikinis!
