Suspected gunman detained by police at University of Texas at Arlington — no shots fired
A suspicious man with a gun and wearing army fatigues was seen at the University of Texas Arlington on Wednesday, the university said, leading the school outside of Dallas to issue a warning to students to shelter in place.
There have been no reports of shots fired or injuries.
A witness told NBC5 that the man was carrying a tripod-looking object.
The school posted this message to its Twitter feed:
“If you are not in the Architecture Building, resume normal operations. Finals schedules should continue as planned.”
“Final exams were scheduled at the university between Dec. 15-18. Commencement ceremonies are scheduled from Dec. 17-19,” NBC News reported.
UPDATE: As of 11:15 a.m. local time, NBC News reports the man has been apprehended and no weapon was found.
