Baltimore police set up barricade during hostage situation at fast-food restaurant
Police are saying that several people inside of a Burger King in Baltimore, Maryland are being held against their will by a suspected rapist, who is armed with a gun.
According to a report from WBAL-TV, Police spotted the suspected rapist around 11 a.m. Sunday morning and the person took off in a car. The officers took chase as the suspect ran into another vehicle.
He then ran into the Burger King and is holding four people hostage including a 7-year-old boy.
Police hope to “end the situation peacefully for all parties involved,” Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith said in a statement.
He also confirmed that SWAT officers and negotiators are outside to bring a nonviolent end to the situation.
“The biggest thing is we want to end this peacefully and we want to end it soon,” Smith said.
The police will not identify the suspect, telling local news only that he was wanted for a rape in the last 24-48 hours.
