‘How do you feel about being lied to?’: Watch Chris Hayes corner a GOPer over Trump Jr’s runaway Russia story
Appearing on MSNBC Friday night, a New Jersey lawmakewr refused to give President Donald Trump a clean bill of health when it came to working with the Russians to get elected in 2016.
Speaking with MSNBC host Chris Hayes, Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ) was pressed by Hayes to defend Trump in light of allegations that his son met with Russians toed to the Kremlin at Trump Tower on JUne 9, before the election.
“Can you definitively say ‘I am 100 percent sure the President and his campaign did not engage in a criminal conspiracy with a foreign intelligence apparatus.’”
“No, I cannot,” Lance replied, “and that’s why I want to get to the bottom of it.”
“I’m asking you a personal question,” Hayes said. “They have told a story that is demonstrably false. And we know they know it’s false. And they are telling everyone that, including you. And all the people in their party who are being asked to carry the water for them. That would anger me, to be lied to. How do you feel about being lied to?”
“I never like being lied to, I hope we get to the bottom of this and expect that Donald Trump Jr. will testify,” Lance replied.
