‘Everyone’s wasted uncle you can’t scream at’: Internet clobbers MSNBC’s Chris Matthews for rape joke about Hillary Clinton
Ahead of an interview with former Secretary Hillary Clinton, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews noted he needed to give her “Bill Cosby pills” before their meeting.
The internet was quick to call out Matthews for making a rape joke, diminishing what Cosby allegedly did to a number of women and insult the former secretary of state and presidential candidate.
Matthews has apologized since being outed.
“This was a terrible comment I made in poor taste during the height of the Bill Cosby headlines,” he said. “I realize that’s no excuse. I deeply regret it and I’m sorry.”

Re: Chris Matthews
Remember when MSNBC pushed @MHarrisPerry (an internationally recognized political-scientist) to the back because they wanted to do more election coverage?
Great progressive network we got here.

I was done with Chris Matthews in 2016 after the way he spoke about Hillary Clinton and kept that dumbass email story going. I’m not surprised at all

Whenever I watch Chris Matthews, I cringe, just waiting for him to once again cross the line with some off-handed remark. MSNBC—this is your out. Replace him with one of your many great female hosts ASAP. https://t.co/A0taSIuph5

I distinctly remember being in a bar in 2008 and hearing a male commentator talking about HRC. I didn’t know the guy so asked the person with me. He said, “that’s Chris Matthews.” I said, “what a sexism asshole.” Still holds true!

.@msnbc I quit watching @hardball because of the kind of stuff detailed below. I'm sick of Chris Matthews and his nasty hateful misogyny. The worst part of it is that he is OBLIVIOUS to the fact that he is just that! He is what he is! What are you going to do about @msnbc https://t.co/U7ZQVg00DD

Chris Matthews is despicable. Why is NO ONE talking about the sexual harassment settlement paid out on behalf of Chris Matthews. He’s a disgusting, arrogant, misogynistic loudmouth and I wish he would go away.

Chris Matthews retirement is long overdue. He’s a cringe worthy, out of touch bumbling mess. I can’t imagine what demographic @MSNBC is trying to reach with his show that isn’t glued to FOX.

You mean like Trump was just talking about grabbing pussy off the air?
We aren't accepting it from Chris Matthews and we aren't accepting it from the President. We shouldn't accept it from anyone. Politics has NOTHING to do with it.

NBC/MSNBC has a deep bench of women more deserving of a nightly program than a guy who wants to slip a "Cosby Pill" to a woman.

Chris Matthews has always been 💩

Hillary Rodham Clinton has been a:
– 1st Lady of Arkansas
– 1st Lady of The United States of America
– 2 term NY Senator
– United States Secretary of State
– 1st female major party presidential nominee
And Chris Matthews "joked" about giving her a date rape drug.

Chris Matthews made those comments about one of the most powerful women in the world. Imagine how he talks about, speaks to, and treats women who do not have Hillary’s power.
