Jesse Kanson-Benanav
Managing Editor

Jesse Kanson-Benanav was born in the frozen tundra of Minnesota. He's proud to hail from St. Paul, a city one named Pig's Eye that currently holds the world record for the largest ice castle ever built.

Jesse is a graduate of Oberlin College, where he majored in Politics and Religion. Had he been savvy enough to design an independent major in sex, his very selective knowledge in these areas would've prevented him from carrying on any conversation in public.

Currently, Jesse is based in Cambridge where, in addition to serving as Managing Editor at Raw Story, he works as a Community Organizer in nearby Somerville, Massachusetts. His background is mainly in electoral politics and has been employed in political campaigns at all levels of government, from local races to president. He greatly admires the late Senator Paul Wellstone, and his father Jay Benanav a City Councilor in St. Paul who is a leader in that city's progressive forces. Above all else, however, his mom Lucy is the greatest moral influence in his life.

Jesse hates Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman, and thinks he's scummier than George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and John Ashcroft rolled into one. But that combination is certainly not far behind.

When not hunched over his outdated Powerbook watching C-SPAN, Jesse can be found rabble rousing or fighting for concrete social-change in America — though he does feel bad that he didn't do more to defeat George Bush.

Jesse is clearly partisan.
