You can't stop progress. Indian people I've worked with are wonderful, and probably the most talented and competent I've ever seen. That being said, I've also witnessed employers holding them hostage for less pay or threatening to send them back (the ones on work visas). So, I'd say the employers are the ones who will screw it up if anyone will. If Indians move here, they won't be able to work for the same low wages they do in India because the standard of living here is much more expensive. I doubt this is going to affect the economy much. And Indian people RAWK! There's a Sikh Temple on the corner of my block and the people who attend it are the nicest ever.

Bobo....I agree with you. I also have worked with folks from India and have found them to be delightful, hard working and intelligent. That being said, I have watched nurses salaries take a nose dive and unions suffer because these folks will work for less money. The hospitals and the health care industry keeps crying for nurses. Have you ever tried to enroll in nursing school? Good Luck!! Nope... there is something wrong with the system that excludes good talented Americans for foreigners. I have never understood the aversion Amerians have to immigration. no country can get by without it these days. You say that immigrants are driving down wages and busting unions, but really, is it there fault? If you can't control your own wages, blame yourself. The US has always relied on immigrants and always treated them like dirt even though most Americans families came from another country at some point. Is the problem soley that you don't like the way they talk or dress? Does it make you uncomfortable that they may date your daughters or move into your neighbourghood?

Why does the US need immigrants at this point? Why can we not get by without them? There was hardly any immigration from 1924-1964 and somehow we survived, even thrived big time in the 1950s-1970s. Also, people didn't see to get sick of immigrants until the late 1800s-early 1900s when the land was pretty much all claimed and cities started getting too crowded, bringing all the problems that people left other countries to get away from.
