Hence, there is no difference between 1 in 5 hungry and 20 percent with "food insecurity." But I do think that Raw Story ran it because they didn't catch the math mistake, and belived that it made Latinos look bad in some way. They always run stories that spark outrage at the immigrants, but ignore stories such as 70 percent of Americans being in favor of comprehensive immigration reform AND effective border security. `I read different versions of this on several sites, as well as heard about it on NPR today. The problem goes much deeper than this. Many of the Latinos that are without food are here illegally. They don't speak English and don't know where to turn. I would be the last person on earth to turn away a hungry person, but the problem is still that they are illegals. We did not take them to raise. They want free medical care and food stamps so the tax payers can take care of them. I don't even think an American citizen should be handed everything. But to be here illegally and expect us to feed them and give them medical care is not what America is all about. The minimum wage will never be raised enough to support a family of four. The price of necessities goes up at a greater pace than wages. The Governments goal is to keep the poor and middle class in the red so we can support them with interest payments and just trying to survive. It will never change. A leading scientist with the GAO said that she thought that within 8 years America will reach a boiling point that will determine our future. The cost of just living will be the catalyst.

They are hungry. They need to eat. So we feed them, but that is only half of the problem. They need to either become legal, or go back to their own countries and make a difference there. We have all we can take care of without looking after illegals. I have a good friend named Easu. He came here with nothing 20 years ago. He now is a very successful business owner with two collage degrees. He did this on his own with no help from the government. That is the way it should be. But we get all these people who want handouts. They need to get their ass in their hand and work harder. For many years I had to work a full time job and 2 part time jobs to feed my family. I am considered "uninsurable" because of a nervous disorder, but have never asked the government for help. And my medication sometimes runs as much as $1300.00 a month. Everyone has problems. It is just a matter of how you deal with them.

I used to know some people who were paid "under the table" for construction work, received food stamps and other social services. They were also always scamming churches and charities. They spent most of their money on drugs and even exchanged food stamps for drugs. They had two kids who definitely went hungry. They were skinny kids though and finally got taken away from their "parents". Before they were taken into CPS custody they would come to my house and beg for food. You may get plenty to eat, be chubby and still be malnutritioned, but you're not going hungry. If you get so little to eat that you feel hungry often, you will be thin. These were the only skinny Mexican kids I've ever seen. I've been to Mexico on vacation a few times and never see skinny people there either.

I was listening to some shit bag last week on NPR and all he talked about was what the USA owed the "brown people". We owe them nothing! The land that they claim is theirs was won in war. And while some of the trailer park people have their hands out, most find a way to fend for themselves. Hell, in 1972 we still had an outhouse. And that is the truth. It was mighty cold in January in Indiana. We took tub baths in the kitchen in the winter, and in the creek in the summer, but we never asked for help from anyone.
