Schwerin- While their son barricaded himself in a room, a
married couple was brutally murdered late Saturday after
two young strangers forced their way into their home in Tessin near
Boizenburg in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, police said.
The suspects, who apparently intended to rob the home, were
surprised by the owners' presence and stabbed them to death, a
spokesman for the police in Boizenburg said.

The son was able to flee behind a door and alarm the police. As
police arrived at the scene, the two suspects grabbed the son's
girlfriend and tried to force her to drive them away with the dead
owners' car.

But they didn't get far because the motor failed after a short
stretch, the spokesman said.

After police caught up, the hostage was released uninjured and the
two men were arrested.

Police and the state's attorney were investigating.
