Print This | Email This U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) have announced that they intend to place a hold on Dr. Andrew C. von Eschenbach's nomination to head the Food and Drug Administration, RAW STORY has learned.
The move comes soon after the announcement that Plan B, sometimes called the "morning after pill," may be approved for sale without a prescription, and just one day before a Senate confirmation hearing on the nomination of Eschenbach to head the agency.
"Today's announcement," the lawmakers said in a joint statement, "is nothing more than another delay tactic."
"We will maintain our hold on Dr. von Eschenbach's nomination until a decision is made."
