News Corp. has announced it has decided not to publish the O.J. Simpson book If I Did It.
"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch in a statement delivered to the Associated Press. "We are sorry for any pain that his has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."
An accompanying Fox television special has also been cancelled. Earlier today, nine network affiliates announced that they would not air the special.
In both, Simpson was reported to have discussed his "hypothetic" role in the 1994 slaying of his ex-wife, Brown Simpson, and her friend Goldman, which divided the nation racially over a decade ago.
