Democratic strategist James Carville's wife, Mary Matlin, hosted a $500/plate fund-raiser for Scooter Libby's Defense Fund, former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney before being indicted in the CIA leak investigation. Libby has raised over $2 million for his defense fund. MSNBC's Keith Olbermann suggests that donations to Libby are more of a "symbol of support" because, he says, Libby has more than enough money to pay for his defense. Attendees included Karl Rove's current spokesman Mark Corallo, Barbara Comstock, Bob Livingston, President Bush's former media advisor, former Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, Charlie Black, Mary Matlin and, of course, Scooter Libby himself.
Correction: Former Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham's name was originally spelled wrong. It has been corrected.
