Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), a likely 2008 presidential candidate, has expressed that he opposes any troop escalation in Iraq, CNN is reporting. "Sending more troops to Iraq is not the answer," he reportedly said.
Brownback met yesterday in Iraq with top Iraq and U.S. officials to discuss possible resolutions to sectarian violence in the war-torn country. "The United States cannot sustain a war effort without broad public support, and we cannot count on such support unless the situation in Iraq improves and American casualties decrease," he said yesterday.
