Reports emerged this week that Brigham Young University suspended starting center Brandon Davies this week over a violation of its honor code. The violation? Premarital sex with his girlfriend.

The BYU honor code, based on the practices of the Mormon faith, includes provisions requiring students to live a “chaste” life, avoid coffee and tea (because of the caffeine) and abstain from foul language. BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe told reporters that, while the reason for the suspension might seem strange, “we deal with this quite often.”
