Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), fresh from the rebel-held Libyan city of Benghazi, appeared on “Today” Monday morning. McCain said that putting American troops on the ground in Libya would be “counterproductive” as well as unpopular, and that the country’s terrain is best suited to airstrikes.

The senator supports the NATO airstrikes, but said, “It doesn’t replace strategy for overall bringing about a change in the government” in Libya.
