After nearly 300 years on the sea floor, the anchor of Blackbeard’s flagship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, has been recovered off the coast of North Carolina. The ship ran aground in the shallows off of Beaufort, North Carolina in 1718. According to CNN, the wreck site has “already yielded more than 250,000 artifacts, including cannons, gold, platters, glass, beads, shackles and rope”. The anchor weighs nearly one and a half tons and was one of three used by the ship.
