Signs calling for the recall of Governor Scott Walker can be found in the lawns of residents across the state of Wisconsin, but political yard signs are outlawed under state law except during the election season.

“Municipalities and the state law, both often purport to restrict political signs to a certain amount of time before or after elections,” ACLU Legal Director Larry Dupuis explained to FOX6.

But the laws are impossible to enforce, thanks to court rulings.

“The bottom line is that the Supreme Court has said that political yard signs are protected speech and that government interest in things like aesthetics aren’t sufficient to overcome that.”
