One of the more combative moments of the Republican debate Wednesday evening was Rick Perry and Mitt Romney’s first face to face clash on stage.

The back-and-forth was over which candidate had the better job creation record as governor, with both men jabbing each other with stinging comparisons to past executives in their state.

Perry started the attack by stating his state “created more jobs in three months than Romney did in four years.” But the former Massachusetts governor was ready to counter.

“Texas has a lot of oil and gas in the ground, but if Gov. Perry believes that, it would be like Al Gore saying he invented the internet,” Romney said .

Perry fired back: ” Michael Dukakis created jobs three times faster than you do Mitt.”

Romney was unshaken: “Well as a matter of fact, George Bush, his predecessor, created more jobs at a higher rate than you did governor ,” he replied.
